Duluth News Tribune lays off executive editor

The Duluth News Tribune has laid off its executive editor and circulation manager.

Rob Karwath was the executive editor. Tim McLoughlin was circulation manager. The layoffs were announced Friday.

Publisher Ken Browall released a statement saying the layoffs were a difficult business decision and that both men had made significant contributions to the newspaper.

Browall says he will miss Karwath and McLoughlin both personally and professionally.

He says Robin Washington will be the company's editor. Washington had worked as the newspaper's news director.

The News Tribune publishes seven days a week. It's owned by Forum Communications Co. of Fargo, N.D.
