MnSCU urges to students get counted in 2010 Census

Share story

The chancellor of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system is urging students to be counted in the 2010 Census so the state can receive its fair share of federal dollars.

Chancellor James McCormick says historically it has been hard for the census bureau to track college students, so he's encouraging the system's 32 colleges and universities to help students complete their census forms.

Census data affect funding for tuition grant and loan programs as well as other services offered by the system's colleges and universities and their campus communities.

MnSCU says its students should complete forms based on their student addresses, even if they are not permanent Minnesota residents.
