Authorities are investigating a fatal snowmobile accident in Carlton County of northeastern Minnesota.
Sheriff Kelly Lake says 22-year-old Kyle Jay Sims of Cloquet was traveling on a road in Perch Lake Township, west of Cloquet, about 10 p.m. Saturday. The sheriff's office says Sims was unable to make a turn and skidded into a wooded area. He was ejected from the snowmobile and died from his injuries. There were no passengers on the machine.
Investigators say excessive speed and alcohol are believed to be contributing factors in the crash.
