Former police captain charged with criminal sexual conduct

A former captain with the Minneapolis Park Police Department has been charged with criminal sexual conduct for a series of alleged incidents with a teenage boy.

William Allan Jacobs, 66, of Deephaven, was charged Friday in Hennepin County District Court and was being held in the Hennepin County jail with bail set at $1 million.

The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office arrested Jacobs Thursday after investigators said they had evidence that Jacobs sexually abused a 15-year-old boy. Authorities said Jacobs was an attorney and camp counselor

According to the criminal complaint, the boy told detectives that he was abused approximately 28 times beginning in 2007 when he was 12 years old. The boy said the abuse, which continued until this month, included inappropriate touching, sex acts and penetration.

Sheriff Rich Stanek said in a news release that investigators were encouraging anyone with information relevant to the case to contact the sheriff's office at (763) 525-6216.

"The charges are disturbing especially since this is an individual who was trusted by so many," Stanek said.

A message left Friday at Jacobs' home was not immediately returned, and it was not clear if he had an attorney.
