Snow slows morning Twin Cities commute
Up to 3 inches of snow has fallen in the Twin Cities metro area, making for another slow commute this morning.
MnDOT traffic cameras showed more than a dozen crashes and spinouts on Twin Cities highways, including several rollovers. The transportation agency's congestion map showed several red areas Monday morning, indicating traffic had slowed way down.
"We have been out throughout the night putting down chemicals," MnDOT metro-area spokesman Kent Barnard said. "However, we're getting a little bit of refreeze out there this morning and we do have scattered slippery spots."
MnDOT rated driving conditions in southeastern Minnesota "difficult" because of snow. Conditions in the Twin Cities, central and western Minnesota were rated "fair," as snow totals were less than in southeastern Minnesota.

"I want people to be real careful no matter where they're driving throughout the state," Barnard said.
In the Twin Cities, Barnard said the Monday afternoon commute was worse than this morning's.
"Hopefully people gave themselves plenty of time this morning to get into work," he said.
The National Weather Service said snow totals from through this morning ranged from 1.4 inches in St. Cloud to 4.5 inches in Red Wing. Minneapolis got just under 3 inches, while St. Paul had 2.5 inches.
More snow is possible today, but forecasters said chances for accumulating snow are better for Thursday night and Friday.
