Funeral set for Saturday for Duluth pastors' son who died in Haiti quake

The funeral for a Lutheran seminarian from the Midwest killed in the Jan. 12 earthquake in Haiti will be on Saturday in Decorah in northeast Iowa.

Twenty-five-year-old Ben Larson was a graduate of Luther College in Decorah and a Wartburg Theological Seminary student in Dubuque. His body was recovered from the collapsed St. Joseph's Home for Boys in Port-au-Prince.

Larson was in Haiti with his wife and cousin with the Evangelical Lutheran Church. They escaped the building, but Larson was trapped.

Larson is a La Crosse, Wis., Central High School graduate. His parents live in Duluth, Minn.

His funeral will be at 1 p.m. at First Lutheran Church in Decorah with burial in Phelps Cemetery in Decorah.

Fjelstul Funeral Home in Decorah is making the arrangements.
