Man freed from grain bin in Farmington

Emergency crews in Farmington have freed man who was trapped in a grain silo for more than eight hours Thursday.

Farmington police say the man was pulled from the grain silo at Feely's Elevator about 7:45 p.m. Police got the call saying he was trapped about 11:15 a.m.

Police Chief Brian Lindquist says the man was inside the grain bin chipping away some frozen corn when he slipped, or some grain shifted.

Lindquist says the man landed at the bottom of the silo with a hill of corn above him. Digging him out without disturbing the grain above him was slow work for emergency crews.

Lindquist says the man remained conscious and talking, and seemed to be in good shape when he was hoisted out of the silo.

He was taken to a hospital for further exams.
