Minn. lawmaker who enrolled in Guard due back soon

The Minnesota Legislature won't have full attendance until one of its own finishes his National Guard training this week.

St. Paul Rep. John Lesch is winding down his infantryman training at Georgia's Fort Benning. He expects to be back at the Capitol soon. He recently informed his followers on the networking site Twitter that he was due to graduate from basic training on Feb. 10.

The fourth-term Democrat enlisted in the Minnesota National Guard last fall. The terms of Lesch's enlistment have been considered private.

The Legislature convened its yearly session on Thursday.
