Mpls rally targets US action in Yemen, Pakistan

An anti-war group is planning to march in downtown Minneapolis on Thursday to protest the growing U.S.

involvement in Pakistan and Yemen. The group Direct Action to Stop War and Occupation will start its march at 4 p.m. outside the Minneapolis Central Library.

Organizers say they are not cooperating with police and have not requested a permit for the march. The intent is to disrupt business in the streets and skyways to call attention to what they say is an "unacknowledged expansion of war."

The Obama administration is seeking billions in budget increases to target terror threats from abroad, especially Pakistan and Yemen. Officials say they are focusing on regions that have served as insurgent sanctuaries.
