Students deal with suicide of popular teacher

Students at a Duluth high school are dealing with the suicide of a popular teacher who was under investigation for sexual misconduct.

About 200 students, teachers and others gathered at Proctor Senior High School Sunday for a memorial service to mark the death of 42-year-old Kyle Neumann.

Junior Emily Kolodge says many student cried, held hands and supported one another during the service. Kolodge says anyone who had an algebra class with Neumann knew he was a great teacher.

St. Louis County Sheriff Ross Litman tells the Duluth News Tribune that Neumann was found dead of self-inflicted gunshot wound in a rural area north of Duluth Saturday. Just a few days earlier, Proctor police said the teacher was under investigation for alleged sexual misconduct. ---
