Wis. man sentenced to life in killing of Minn. man

A Milwaukee man has been sentenced to life in prison for the shooting death of a Minnesota man at a birthday celebration in the eastern Wisconsin city of Grand Chute.

The Appleton Post-Crescent reports that relatives of Artheddius Peeler, of Plymouth, Minn., told the judge Monday the pain of losing a "teddy bear" of a man remains fresh more than a year afterward.

Michael D. Potts was sentenced on a charge of first-degree intentional homicide. The 27-year-old will be 77 before he's eligible for parole.

Peeler was at a Grand Chute apartment complex to celebrate his 23rd birthday in October 2008. Potts and co-defendant Keith Birr, of Neenah, got into a confrontation with Peeler over the noise. Birr is due to stand trial in August.
