An old building in downtown Duluth is getting new life.
The St. Louis County Board on Tuesday unanimously approved the sale of the historic county jail to a Minneapolis company.
Jail Holding LLC will buy the 86-year-old building for $54,000.
The jail was built in 1924 as part of the historic Civic Center complex. The county was denied a city demolition permit last year because the jail is protected as a local landmark.

The developer has a track record of rehabbing old buildings.
Developer Grant Carlson says the company is looking at "some kind of office commercial application" for the building. But Carlson says he also wants to preserve part of the jail cell system for visitors.
Closing is set for April 16.
