Yacht can remain docked in downtown Stillwater

The Stillwater City Council will allow a four-level yacht to remain docked downtown on the St. Croix River, despite claims that its ruining the view of the water.

The council approved an annual dock permit for the Majestic Star Tuesday night.

Owners of the Dock Cafe say it's like having a four-story hotel next door, blocking the view of the river. Co-owner Mike McGuire says he's disappointed in the council's decision. He wanted the yacht moved down river, away from his restaurant.

The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports that Stillwater Mayor Ken Harycki said the city has no jurisdiction over what happens on the water.
