ND man gets no more jail time for firing at brother

A Fargo man whose Minnesota family was featured on a reality show won't face further jail time for trying to shoot one of his brothers.

Joseph Heppner pleaded guilty to reckless endangerment Friday in Cass County District Court. The 24-year-old was sentenced to the 102 days in jail he's already served since the November incident and five years' probation. A one-year prison term was suspended.

Police say Heppner pointed a loaded pistol at his older brother, Samuel, and pulled the trigger twice. It didn't fire. The brothers had gotten into an argument at Samuel's home in Fargo.

The brothers are part of the Heppner family of Warroad, Minn., that boasted of 16 children. They were featured in a 2007 Learning Channel series, "Kids by the Dozen."
