The Minnesota Twins announced today that the state's high school baseball championship games will be played at the new Target Field this summer.

Minnesota's high school baseball teams are split into three classes, based on enrollment - and all three classes will play their state title game on June 19th at Target Field. It's being called "championship Saturday."

Along with putting high schoolers on the same field as the pros - the move also consolidates the state championship games. Last year's state tournament was played on six different fields in five different cities.

It will be the first time all of the state championship games are played at one site since 1988, when there were just two classes at that time and those games were at the Metrodome.

The Twins also said in a statement they hope the new location for the games becomes an annual event.
