Winona man pleads guilty in crash that killed 5

A Winona man has pleaded guilty to five counts of felony vehicular homicide for drinking, crashing into a van and killing five people.

Christopher Steven Frisch made his plea Thursday in Olmsted County District Court in Rochester. Frisch, 26, told Judge Joseph Wieners that he had been drinking last May 23, had a blood alcohol concentration twice the legal limit and fell asleep at the wheel.

Frisch ran a stop sign near Rochester International Airport and broadsided the van driven by Terry Milholland, 45, of Beecher, Ill. Milholland and four other friends and family members, including a 5-week-old infant and a 2-year-old boy, were all killed, and Milholland's fiance was critically injured.

Frisch will be sentenced on May 10. He faces up to 24 years in prison.
