New Hope man arrested for alleged Somali threat

A Twin Cities man is in jail after police say a threatening message was posted on Craigslist about an upcoming Somali cultural event at St. Cloud State University.

St. Cloud police say the 49-year-old New Hope man was arrested Friday morning.

Police spokesman Sgt. Martin Sayre says St. Cloud police were made aware of the alleged threat Wednesday evening by someone not connected with the event who saw it on Craigslist.

Sayre says authorities are not disclosing the nature of the threat. He says there are no other suspects.

The man was arrested by New Hope police and taken to the Stearns County jail, where he's being held pending charges.
