Semi leaves highway, crashes into SE Minn. house

A semi-truck driver was in serious condition after running off a freeway in southeastern Minnesota and crashing into a house.

The impact moved the main floor several feet and left a large hole in the house. A couple sleeping upstairs weren't hurt when the truck hit just before 12:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The Minnesota State Patrol says the truck left U.S. Highway 63, hit a utility pole, struck a car parked in front of the garage, then smashed into the living room. The truck also broke the gas line to the house.

The driver, who's from Illinois, was flown to Mayo Clinic in Rochester. The American Red Cross put the couple up in a motel for the rest of the night.

The crash is under investigation.
