Rochester authorities seek tips on suspicious fire

Authorities in Rochester are asking members of the public to come forward with information about a suspicious fire that happened over the weekend.

The fire early Sunday morning at 4421 Mayo Woodland Road S.W. caused an estimated $700,000 in damage. The home was under construction at the time, said Rochester Fire Marshal Vance Swisher.

Swisher said the cause of the fire has not been determined. Authorities are offering a reward of up to $2,500 for anyone with information that leads to an arson arrest.

The Rochester Fire Department, the Olmsted County Sheriff's Department and the Minnesota State Fire Marshal's Office are encouraging people to call the Arson Hotline at 1-800-723-2020.
