Pawlenty coy on plan to pick Minn. chief justice

Gov. Tim Pawlenty says he expects to conduct interviews in April for people vying to be Minnesota's next Supreme Court chief justice.

Beyond that, he's giving few clues about the direction he's headed, the number of candidates or the timetable for finding the new head of the state judiciary.

Current Chief Justice Eric Magnuson is stepping down at the end of June. As governor, Pawlenty will select his replacement.

It will be Pawlenty's fifth selection of a Supreme Court justice, including Magnuson two years ago.
