Man suspected of stabbing police dog in custody

A fugitive accused of leading authorities on a chase and manhunt, and then stabbing a police dog last week in Anoka County is now in custody.

Sheriff's officials tell KSTP-TV the suspect turned himself into authorities Sunday.

Minneapolis police pulled the suspect over early Tuesday and spotted some empty alcohol containers in his vehicle. He led police on a chase that ended in Blaine, then fled into the woods. The dog was sent into the woods, came out with stab wounds, but survived.

The man has been on the run since then.
