New Sept. 11 museum renderings show the shrines of candles and flowers and the twisted pieces of World Trade Center steel that became iconic images of post-Sept. 11 New York.
One exhibit will try to replicate the shrines of candles, flowers and mementoes created by grief-stricken relatives and New Yorkers in the days after the 2001 attack.
One rendering shows a visitor staring at a collection of candles, with a construction worker's helmet nearby.
An exhibit focusing on the cleanup of ground zero will have as its centerpiece a trident steel column from the destroyed twin towers. Photographs of ground zero workers cleaning up debris aree projected onto the steel.
Museum officials presented the exhibits at a Thursday meeting of the Lower Manhattan Development Corp., which is giving $2.2 million to help fund the exhibits.
