Add environmentalists to the groups that are cheering the Twins' new ballpark.

The Twins announced at a news conference this morning that Target Field has acheived a silver level of LEED Certification today. LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental design.

The certification comes from The Green Building Council, an independent source that gauges how environmentally friendly new buildings are.

MPR's Steven John talked about the certification with Chris Iles, a communications manager with the Minnesota Twins.
