Armed standoff in Robbinsdale ends peacefully

A two-hour armed standoff in the Minneapolis suburb of Robbinsdale has ended peacefully after a man surrendered to police.

Hennepin County sheriff's spokeswoman Lisa Kiava says officers were serving a narcotics search warrant Thursday morning when they were fired on. Kiava says officers believe the suspect may have been using an automatic weapon.

The 26-year-old suspect is in custody and will be booked into the Hennepin County Jail on an aggravated assault charge. Kiava says he may face further charges once the narcotics warrant is executed.

Kiava says the suspect surrendered without incident after he spoke to a SWAT team negotiator. No one was hurt.
