Minn. bill requires equal treatment for cancer drugs

A bill before the Senate Finance Committee on Friday would require health plans to treat different kinds of cancer drugs the same.

The legislation from Sen. Linda Scheid says that health plans can't charge more for oral chemotherapy medicine than they charge for cancer drugs that are given by injection or intravenously.

It would also prevent health plans from raising charges for intravenous and injected cancer drugs.

Scheid is a Democrat from Brooklyn Park.
