Republican kicks off bid to unseat Swanson

A Republican attorney is kicking off his campaign to unseat Attorney General Lori Swanson.

Chris Barden, a Harvard-educated lawyer, holds a Capitol news conference on Wednesday.

He says it's time to elect a Republican as the state's top lawyer after four decades of Democrats holding the office. Barden will seek the GOP endorsement on Friday in Minneapolis.

Democrats backed Swanson for a second term at the party's state convention last week.
