Road workers discover dead body along freeway

Road maintenance workers in Minneapolis discovered a dead body off eastbound I-394 Wednesday morning.

Workers with the state Department of Transportation found the body, which has not been identified, off the freeway between Penn Avenue and Dunwoody Boulevard.

In a statement released Wednesday afternoon, homicide investigators said the body appears to be an adult female and had probably "been in place for an extended period of time."

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's office has not yet released a cause of death.
