Man gets 26 years for sex assault at church

A 62-year-old man with a history of sex offenses in Wisconsin has been sentenced to 26 years in prison for the sexual assault of a 73-year-old woman at a church near Belgrade.

The West Central Tribune reports Lindon Roy Knutson received a sentence higher than recommended by state guidelines, which is allowed for sexually dangerous offenders.

Knutson pleaded guilty in Kandiyohi County to a first-degree criminal sexual conduct charge for attacking the woman last November at Crow River Lutheran Church. The victim said in court she was cleaning the church when Knutson attacked her.

Knutson listed a Bemidji address but has spent much of the last three decades in Wisconsin prisons and mental institutions.
