Rep. Oberstar to chair oil spill hearing
Minnesota Congressman Jim Oberstar is chairing a U.S. Capitol hearing on the massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
The Democrat from northern Minnesota is chairman of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, which has jurisdiction over water poluttion regulation and the U.S. Coast Guard.
Oberstar says he'll use the Wednesday hearing to examine what caused the disaster, the effectiveness of the response so far and what can be done to avoid similar catastrophes in the future. (Copyright 2010 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.)
