About 200 volunteers will make repairs Saturday on eight Minneapolis homes. The event is part of an effort to help low-income, senior and disabled homeowners who are unable to afford the repairs on their own.

Volunteers will do carpentry, plumbing and electrical work, landscaping, insulating, painting and weatherization. The homes to be worked on include three in the Windom Park Neighborhood, one each in McKinley, Near North, St. Anthony West and Waite Park.

Organizer Kathryn Greiner from Rebuilding Together Twin Cities says the homeowners are looking forward to receiving the services.

"They are extremely excited they are all looking forward to it," Greiner said. "They have been aware for the last several weeks that they have volunteers descending on their homes. I know one homeowner, in particular, is planning to actually cook the volunteers a barbeque."

The volunteers included skilled trades people and community members.
