Hockey recruit accused of assault on girlfriend

A hockey recruit at the University of Minnesota-Duluth has been arrested and accused of attacking his girlfriend in her dorm room at The College of St. Scholastica.

A police report say 20-year-old Christopher Michael Stafne of Duluth went to his girlfriend's room Monday night where they argued. The report says Stafne pushed the woman down and also hit her with a door.

Stafne was booked into the St. Louis County Jail and later released pending a court appearance June 15.

The Duluth News Tribune reports Stafne accepted a scholarship from the university after playing in the U.S. Hockey League for Indiana, Fargo and Des Moines.
