Minnesota teen wins $10,000 for Bubble Wrap idea
A Minnesota teen has won $10,000 for coming up with an unorthodox use for bubble wrapping.
Most people just pop the bubbles. But 13-year-old Matthew Huber came up with a better idea - using Bubble Wrap as an alternative to conventional glass Petri dishes for science experiments.
The St. Peter teen entered his idea in a contest sponsored by Sealed Air Corp. That's the Elmwood Park, N.J. company that makes Bubble Wrap.
His idea recently won the grand prize, a $10,000 U.S. Savings Bond.
The annual contest is open to students in grades five through eight. Huber topped more than 2,500 other entrants from 40 states.
