Police say a 20-year-old Shakopee man is under guard at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis and, following his release, will be booked into jail for a fatal knife attack.
Chief Jeff Tate said Thursday officers responded to a Shakopee apartment complex about 10 p.m. Wednesday and found an 18-year-old Coon Rapids man lying near a swimming pool in a courtyard. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Tate says four other men, including the suspect, were injured in a knife fight. The chief says a number of knives were found at the scene.
Two 20-year-old men, including the suspect, and a 17-year-old male showed up at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Shakopee with stab wounds. Two of the three were then taken by ambulance to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis. A fifth man arrived at Regions Hospital in St. Paul with knife wounds.
Tate says it's not known what motivated the fight. The suspect and another man remain hospitalized at HCMC.
