Teenager killed in Minneapolis; 24th homicide of the year

Minneapolis police are investigating the city's 24th homicide of the year.

Officers found a teenage boy early Sunday morning in a front yard on the south side, with a gunshot wound to the head.

The boy was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center, where he died.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner identified the victim as Andrew Battees, 16.

Police don't have a suspect in custody.

Battees is the third person killed in Minneapolis over the last four days.

Police continue to investigate a fatal drive-by shooting about 2 a.m. Saturday in which Phelandis Jackson, 29, of Minneapolis was killed. That happened outside a restaurant on Lyndale Avenue in south Minneapolis.
