Minn. lawmaker to fight harassment allegation

An attorney for state Rep. Tom Anzelc says he'll ask a judge to dismiss a woman's request for a harassment restraining order against him.

The allegations against Anzelc come from a woman who described herself as an ex-girlfriend of the lawmaker. In court papers filed this month, she accuses Anzelc of stalking her, calling repeatedly and making threats mentioning his possession of guns.

Anzelc's attorney Joseph Boyle says the allegations have no merit and says the court was "deceived as to the facts." Boyle acknowledges the two previously had a private relationship.

Anzelc is a Democrat from Balsam Township who represents a sizable district in far northern Minnesota.

The Hibbing Daily Tribune first reported on the allegations.
