Just back from Rwanda, Minnesota lawyer robbed

Minnesota law professor Peter Erlinder's return home after three weeks in a Rwandan prison wasn't entirely happy: Police say he was robbed at gunpoint.

Police spokesman Paul Schnell says Erlinder wasn't hurt in what appeared to be a random robbery Thursday night in front of his home.

Erlinder told police he saw a group of teens across the street. One who appeared to be about 16 approached him, pointed a handgun and demanded money. Erlinder told police he pulled some cash from a pocket, threw it on the ground, and the teen grabbed it and fled with three others.

Erlinder, a professor at William Mitchell College of Law, was arrested in Rwanda on May 28 on a charge of minimizing the country's genocide. He was ultimately freed on medical grounds and arrived back in Minnesota on Tuesday.
