Rain adds to wet conditions on Minn. farms

Last week's heavy rains have added to wet conditions on some Minnesota farms.

In its weekly crop weather report for Minnesota on Monday, the U.S. Department of Agriculture says statewide average precipitation for the week ending Sunday was 2.12 inches - 1 inch above normal.

There were a few reports of crops drowning out in lower areas. Spraying and haying were difficult because of wet conditions.

But the report says crops remain in good to excellent condition statewide.

Corn is rated 90 percent in good to excellent condition. Soybeans are 83 percent in good to excellent condition.

Eighty-five percent of spring wheat is in good to excellent condition.
