Centerville man convicted in road rage injuries

A 21-year-old Centerville man has pleaded guilty in a road rage confrontation that seriously injured a woman.

John Thomas Babcook was convicted Wednesday of first-degree assault in the May 20 confrontation outside Maplewood's Hill-Murray School.

He allegedly followed her car into the school's parking lot, rammed it several times, then deliberately ran her down at high speed after she got out.

The 23-year-old woman sustained numerous spinal fractures, a head laceration and multiple soft-tissue injuries.
