Duluth man convicted in sword stabbing

A 47-year-old Duluth man accused of stabbing another man with a 24-inch sword has been convicted of second-degree assault.

A St. Louis County jury found Richard P. Richey guilty after about three hours of deliberations Thursday. The trial lasted three days.

Richey was accused of stabbing the victim in a dispute over money April 5, 2009 in Duluth.

The Duluth News Tribune reports that Richey has had 17 criminal cases filed against him in five Minnesota counties.
