Hennepin County authorities say a 27-year-old man has drowned at Lake Calhoun.
The medical examiner's office identified the man Saturday as Orlando Burgos of Brooklyn Center.
The sheriff's office says Burgos was swimming with a friend Friday at Thomas Beach at the south end of the lake.
Sheriff's spokeswoman Lisa Kiava says the friend noticed Burgos had gone under about 9 p.m. and failed to resurface. The friend and others called for help and scrambled to find him.
The Star Tribune reports that emergency responders found Burgos in about 6 feet of water. He was given CPR and taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead about 10 p.m.
