Duluth police say someone is passing phony $100 bills.
Police say they are investigating a number of reports of counterfeit $100 bills passed in the last week.
The bills are of good quality and are made from real $5 bills. Police say the counterfeits look and feel like real $100 bills and can be easily mistaken without close examination.
Police are alerting merchants that counterfeit detection pens are ineffective in recognizing these fake bills.
