A candidate for Douglas County commissioner is accused of writing bad checks in two counties, but he says he hopes voters can look past his mistakes.
KSAX-TV reports that a warrant from McLeod County has been issued for 20-year-old Steven Hensley after he allegedly wrote a bad check for $800 and missed a court date.
He's also accused of writing a bad check for $800 in Douglas County, but County Attorney Chris Karpen says Otter Tail County is handling that case to avoid conflicts of interest.
Hensley tells the station that he's learned from his mistakes and that he's sorry.
Incumbent Douglas County Commissioner Paul Anderson says Hensley's mistakes make him unfit for the office because if he can't reconcile his own checkbook he can't reconcile the county's. ---
