Slain Wahpeton, N.D. soldier laid to rest

A slain North Dakota soldier who was laid to rest on Friday was remembered as a man of few words who just wanted to do his job.

Funeral services were held at the Wahpeton armory for 19-year-old Army Spc. Keenan Cooper, followed by a graveside service with full military honors at Fairview Cemetery.

The Rev. Mike Adams said Cooper had wanted to be a soldier since elementary school. In civilian life, he was an avid outdoorsman who loved to go on archery shoots with his father.

Cooper was serving in Afghanistan with the Fort Bragg, N.C.-based 82nd Airborne Division when he was killed on July 5.
