Forest panel seeks ideas on how to spend $400,000

An advisory committee to the Superior National Forest has $400,000 to spend on projects, and it's looking for ideas on how to spend it.

The Superior Resource Advisory Committee is seeking proposals for projects to enhance forest ecosystems, or to restore and improve forest health and water quality in the Superior National Forest and nearby lands.

Projects must be located on national forest lands in Cook, Lake and St. Louis counties of northeastern Minnesota, or on other nearby lands if the project will benefit the national forest.

The deadline for completed project applications is Sept. 15.

Around $400,000 is currently available, and an additional $400,000 will be available in the next year. Additional calls for proposals are anticipated in the future. ---
