Former union chief in Duluth gets prison sentence

The former chairman of United Transportation Union 325 in Duluth has been sentenced to three months in prison and must pay $78,000 in restitution and fines.
The Duluth News Tribune reports that 61-year-old Edward G. Kobe of Duluth was sentenced Tuesday in Minneapolis by U.S. District Court Judge Patrick Schiltz.
The U.S. Attorney's Office in Minneapolis said Kobe pleaded guilty Nov. 30. In his plea agreement, Kobe admitted embezzling union funds from 2005 through 2006 for personal use.
Kobe was the union's general chairman from the early 1990s to 2006.
