Funeral services have been set for the two Minnesota soldiers killed in Afghanistan earlier this month.
A funeral service for 21-year-old Spc. Matthew J. Johnson of Maplewood will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Ft. Snelling Historic Chapel on the Ft. Snelling grounds. Internment will follow the service at the Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports that service for 23-year-old 1st Lt. Christopher S. Goeke of Apple Valley will be at 5 p.m. Sunday at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Burnsville. A private internment at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery will take place Monday.
Johnson was killed by an improvised explosive device on July 13. Goeke died July 14 during an attack on an Afghanistan National Army facility in Kandahar City.
