Strong storms move across northern, central Minnesota

Severe thunderstorms were popping up across the northern half of the state Thursday evening, spawning at least one tornado near Bemidji.
Storm spotters reported a tornado on the ground shortly before 6 p.m. about 13 miles northeast of Bemidji in rural Beltrami County.
Storms continued to develop to the southwest when at 8 p.m. damage from a possible tornado was reported 4 miles south of Brandon, Minn. in the western part of the state.
Pea-size hail and 45 mph winds were expected with this storm.
