The Federal Emergency Management Agency has agreed to add six counties to the major disaster declaration that resulted from June's severe storms and tornadoes, state officials announced Monday.
Last week, the state's Department of Public Safety requested that Blue Earth, Brown, Houston, Kittson, Nicollet and Sibley counties to added to the declaration, after discovering an additional $2 million in costs and damages.
These counties will now be able to access federal funding for emergency work and the repair or replacement of disaster-damaged facilities.
