Judge lifts restraining order against DFL lawmaker

A St. Louis County judge has vacated a temporary restraining order against a state legislator by his former girlfriend, and denied a request for a permanent restraining order.

The temporary restraining order issued June 8 prohibited DFL Rep. Tom Anzelc of Balsam Township in Itasca County from coming within two blocks of the woman or having contact with any place where she worked.

But the Duluth News Tribune reports Thursday that Judge Dale Harris wrote that he found "no reasonable grounds to believe harassment occurred."

In a statement, Anzelc says he's pleased with the judge's decision and said he found the court fair and patient. Anzelc is running for a third term against Marvin Ott, a Republican from Grand Rapids.
