Three young people got a scare after a rip current near the mouth of the Amnicon River near Superior, Wis., swept them into Lake Superior.
U.S. Coast Guard Petty Officer 1st Class Jonathan Bowdin tells the Duluth News Tribune it happened about 7:45 p.m. Saturday, when the guard was called and sent a 25-foot boat.
However, he says the two teenagers and a pre-teen were safely ashore with the boat arrived - thanks to the help of a canoeist in the area.
Bowdin says the rain-swollen Amnicon River and wind conditions probably contributed to the dangerous rip current Saturday evening. ---
